Investors are broadly keeping the faith in trying to combat global warming, the 2023 Robeco Global Climate Survey reveals. Commitments to placing climate change and also biodiversity at the heart of investment strategy remains strong, despite headwinds led by the turbulence caused by the Russia-Ukraine war. Investors are moving from aspiration to implementation – integrating net zero pledges in portfolios, assisted by tools such as climate benchmarks.
The survey highlights are:
- Investors giving a high priority to climate change is stable at around 70%
- Headwinds range from anti-ESG campaigns to the move back into coal use
- Interest grows in biodiversity, renewables and the Just Transition
- Implementation will need better data and more focus on making impact
